I even managed to achieve bashing one into another with the Repulsion Cannon, but no matter how much I tried I couldn't wipe them all off the face of the planet. If it was, then no one in their right mind would ever bother trying to get achievements. They aren’t evil, they’re just doing what they need to do to survive in the ecosystem. You CAN kill things, but you’ll more often find yourself avoiding combat and when you do kill, you’ll be doing it to eat and drink, much like the other creatures you share the world with. Like how there’s really no lethal weapons that are actual weapons (with exception to poison torpedoes which have limited usefulness) - and the game heavily incentivizes stunning enemies or avoiding them, as well as reinforcing your ships to survive encounters with enemies. Hell, none of the PDA entries to my knowledge say to kill any creatures, but it does say to avoid them most often. You’re not a conqueror, you just want to admire the beauty of it all. You’re learning about the world and what makes it tick. To learn their names and how they act with each other. They didn’t respect her children and they used the planet for themselves and felt like they were entitled to it. Like how the emperor leviathan wouldn’t give the precursors the enzyme needed to cure the virus because they didn’t respect her. Maybe that isn’t the perfect word to use - but I do know that the game makes a point about respecting life and animals contradicts the meaning and themes of the game. I do feel like killing hostile creatures sort of. We dont need others to dictate how to have fun in our pixel game. Tl dr Its just pixel water, pixel fish and pixel monsters. The playerbase surprised the devs by building outposts in them and farming the supposed harsh environment inside, being cut off to 'normal space' as the entrances and exits disappeared and reappeared, sometimes connected to space owned by rival organizations hunting you down, sometimes connected to the starter area space, sometimes being limited to small size ships only (to get the farmed goods off wormhole space, you'll need a bigger ship so the trouble of transporting high value loot inside liddle wittle frigates to entrances/exits possibly camped by cloaked players wanting to steal your stuff, yeah.) The game devs absolutely loved it. and again, random wormhole space, random exits. So when the entrances/exits disappeared, some other wormholes will open in another parts of the universe. and inside the wormhole space was designed to be harsh and dangerous, a recurring idea of balancing risk-vs-reward (in this case, of faster travel). Also the connections to the other areas of the universe changed over time. You had to look for the entrance to enter and it had a limited number of uses/time open/etc. There was this area of space called wormholes which was originally designed as shortcuts to other areas of the universe. In one of my fav mmos Eve online, there was a story about game dev that went like this.
